TICK-AND-FLICK DUTTON A SERIOUS CONCERN TO SECURITY

December 05, 2017

Peter Dutton’s incompetence and inability to manage his portfolio has forced him to concede there was a “legal error” in a decision he made under section 501 of the Migration Act.

Labor strongly supports the refusal or cancellation of visas of non-citizens on character grounds and the removal from Australia of people who don’t pass the character test – such as members of outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Section 501 of the Migration Act exists to protect Australians from harm and these decisions are too important for Peter Dutton to stuff up.

Labor takes the safety and security of Australians with the utmost of seriousness and believes Australia deserves better than a tick-and-flick Immigration Minister who isn’t across his brief.

How can we trust Dutton with unprecedented power over our domestic security agencies when he’s admitting he can’t even do his current job?

This isn’t the first time Dutton has made serious mistakes – he may think of himself a future Prime Minister but he can’t even do the job he’s got now.
