BLAIR STRONGER COMMUNITIES GRANT TO FUND UPGRADES AT SWIFTS SPORTS CLUB

13 December 2017

Swifts Sports Club has successfully obtained more than $13,000 in funding towards upgrading their Booval facilities in Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Grants Programme.

Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann MP, congratulated General Manager Mark Sherman on the $13,619 grant at the Club on Wednesday.

“Swifts not only provides sporting opportunities to local players, they also offer their facilities for local community groups to meet and host events,” Mr Neumann said.

“I was pleased to nominate the Club, so they can continue to provide such an integral community service.”

Upgrades and renovations will be made to the Club’s kitchen area, including the installation of dishwashing facilities in the downstairs bistro.

Mr Sherman said currently staff are required to transport dishes to the upstairs kitchen for washing.

"This will boost staff productivity, and greatly improve occupational health and safety."

The Stronger Communities Programme will deliver $150,000 to community groups in the Ipswich and Somerset Region for small capital projects that improve local community participation and contribute to a vibrant and viable community in Blair.
