NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK 2020

17 November 2020

This week is National Road Safety Week.

Every year, approximately 1,200 people are killed and another 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads.

For Australian children under 15, traffic injuries are the biggest killer.

For young Australians aged 15-24, traffic injuries are the second biggest killer.

This is a devastating toll which touches families and communities across Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karan Downs area.

Far too many Australians are dying or being seriously injured on our roads and we all need to do better.

By changing behaviours, putting down distractions, obeying road rules and not getting behind the wheel when tired or under the influence of drugs or alcohol we can keep ourselves and others safe.

All drivers should visit the National Road Safety Week website and take the pledge to keep themselves and others safe on the road.

National Road Safety Week is a national awareness campaign organised by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group to raise awareness of road trauma and ways to prevent it.
