RAAF BASE AMBERLEY TO CREATE 2800 NEW JOBS BY 2020

Queensland businesses are on the cusp of an economic and jobs boom as a result of investment in future defence capabilities according to a new report by KPMG.

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann MP said he welcomes the report and looks forward to the promised jobs in his Electorate of Blair.

“The promise of jobs growth in the Greater Ipswich and the Somerset region is great news,”

“I look forward to a strong defence industry and delivery of these projected economic benefits in my electorate of Blair.”

As a result of government commitments to RAAF Amberley the Queensland economy is expected to be more than $1.2 billion larger.

An expected 2800 jobs are to be created between 2015-16 to 2019-20.

Queensland’s Defence industry is the key sector benefitting from RAAF Base Amberley, with $522 million in value added to the industry this financial year projected to increase to more than $1 billion by 2019-20.
