VETERANS WELFARE SERVICE LAUNCHED IN IPSWICH

18 January 2017

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann MP today joined members of the Goodna RSL Sub-Branch for the launch of the Goodna Veterans Drop-In Centre.

Mr Neumann said that the Centre would provide help and support for local veterans, members of the armed forces and their families.

"The Branch will provide a range of services, giving visitors access to welfare and pension officers, experienced advocates, computers and other veterans for any assistance and direction they might need.," Mr Neumann said.

"Simply put, when a member or veteran of our armed forces needs to be heard, there will always be someone here ready to listen and advocate if required.

"This centre is an initiative of the Goodna RSL and will be staffed entirely by its volunteers.

"That such a service is available is a testament to the tireless work and dedication of the branch."

Mr Neumann said that looking out for the welfare of members of the armed forces in Ipswich was essential.

"It is hard to argue that there is anything we can do that is more important than caring former and current members of our armed forces and their families.

"When someone puts their hand up to serve our country, it is our responsibility to ensure they receive the respect and support they need and deserve.

"This is especially the case in the Ipswich region, which has a long and proud association with our defence force."

The centre is open every Wednesday between 9am and 3pm at the Goodna Services Club.
