Nominations are now open for the 2024 Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science.

The Prizes recognise demonstrated excellence in scientific research, research-based innovation and excellence in science teaching.

Prize recipients receive national and international recognition of their work, as well as prize money ranging from between $50,000 and $250,000. Through their achievements, recipients inspire Australians to embrace the world of science and pursue careers in STEM.

Why nominate?

By nominating someone for a prize, you are acknowledging the important contribution they make to their field of work.

Your nomination is the first step – no-one can be recognised unless you nominate them.

Who can be nominated?

A nominee is someone who has made a meaningful contribution to science, research-based innovation or science, technology or mathematics teaching – at any career stage.

Nominees could be from academia, research, industry or education sectors, and may represent one or more of several disciplines.

The Australian Government is committed to ensuring the Prizes reflect Australia’s diverse community. This can happen if there are more nominations for women and non-binary people, First Nations peoples, multicultural Australians, members of the LGBTIQA+ community and people with disability.

How to nominate?

To nominate, you need to provide:

• Your name and contact details.
• The name and contact details of the person you are nominating.
• A short description of your nominee’s achievements.
• The names and contact details of people who can comment on your nominee’s contribution.
• Your nominee’s up-to-date CV.
