RIVERVIEW NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE RECEIVES $6,554 GRANT

20 July 2016

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann has announced funding of up to $6,554 for Riverview Neighbourhood House Association Inc for the installation of lights and security cameras.

Riverview House will receive the funding under the Blair Stronger Communities Programme Round Two.

The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 to community organisations for small capital projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities. Grants must be matched by cash and/or in-kind funding from the organisation on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“Riverview Neighbourhood House delivers a valuable service which supports locals and families in the Ipswich community by providing a safe and supportive place that offers services ranging from community networking and education, to support for people experiencing domestic and family violence," Mr Neumann said.

“Riverview Neighbourhood House delivers these services in response to the needs of the local community, and over the years has certainly become an integral part of the fabric of the local area.

“Last Saturday I was able to witness first-hand what a great role Riverview Neighbourhood House plays in the community when I attended their recent Community Centre Fair Day. I congratulate them for running such an enjoyable and successful event for locals once again.”

Shayne Neumann said that throwing his support behind Riverview Neighbourhood House’s application was an easy decision.

“I’m pleased to have been able to support their grant application for funding to install addition lighting and security cameras at their premises in Riverview.

“Staff and volunteers at Riverview Neighbourhood House work tirelessly to run programs which assist locals, and for that reason they are a very worthy recipient of this grant funding.”

Mr Neumann said he’s been a long-term supporter of Riverview Neighbourhood House Association Inc. and the work they do in our community which can be felt right across Ipswich.

“I am so proud to be able to deliver this funding to assist them.”

Shayne Neumann said that applications for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme are assessed by an independent panel of community members from the Ipswich and Somerset Region.

“I was pleased to lend my support to the independent community assessment panel’s positive recommendation to support Riverview Neighbourhood House’s application to ensure they can go ahead with the project to upgrade lighting and security at their centre.”
