Both eastbound lanes along Brisbane Road are now open following repairs after the embankment slipped into the rail corridor during the major deluge across south-east Queensland in February and March 2022.

The repairs were jointly funded by the Albanese and Palaszczuk Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The eastbound left lane between High Street and Taylor Street was closed for safety and Transport and Main Roads (TMR) prioritised works to restore Brisbane Road as quickly and safely as possible.

The road sustained significant damage to its foundation with cracks about 800mm into the left lane on Brisbane Road and a damaged zone extending four metres deep.

The repairs were not straightforward due to the complexity and safety requirements of working next to a rail corridor and the need to keep one eastbound lane open.

The challenging works over the last 12 months included drilling 22 large piles, which were 12 metres deep below the road level, pile capping, drainage works, surface works and guardrail installation.
