MEDIA RELEASE
SHAYNE NEUMANN MP, FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BLAIR
The Albanese Labor Government is seeking applications from older Australians to join the Aged Care Council of Elders, with current members’ terms due to expire in December 2023.
The Council of Elders provides a direct voice to the Albanese Government about aged care reform on behalf of older Australians.
Applications are sought from older people across Australia with lived experience of aged care.
Great applicants will be those who can demonstrate their ability to take key issues to their communities for discussion and bring that feedback back to government.
People in rural and remote locations and from diverse communities are particularly encouraged to apply.
Membership appointments will be for a term of up to two years, with a proposed commencement date of January 2024.
Applications close Friday 28 July and can be made by visiting https://agedcareengagement.health.gov.au/get-involved/

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the Council of Elders plays a critical role in ensuring the diverse views and perspectives of older people are heard by the Albanese Government as it reforms aged care.
“I am encouraging all older people in our community who have experience with the aged care system and strong local networks to nominate as a member of the Council of Elders.
“This is a unique opportunity to represent your community and contribute to an aged care system that older people can trust,” Mr Neumann said.
