Local primary producers are encouraged to work with their local Councils and land managers to apply for grants in the Future Drought Fund Natural Resource Management Drought Resilience Program.

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann MP, said the $10 million program aims to build long-term drought resilience and preparedness.

“Drought has become an all-too familiar part of our local landscape,” Mr Neumann said.

“This has significant economic, social and environmental impacts.

“It is important that local primary producers, Councils and other bodies work together to support primary producers’ capacity to prepare for and respond to future droughts and climate change.”

Mr Neumann said small projects could receive grants of $20,000 to $50,000 while larger projects could be funded up to $200,000.

The grants close on 30 October 2020.
