Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government would invest $1.6 million in upgrades for Fernvale Sports Park’s Netball Courts.
Senator for Queensland Anthony Chisholm joined Mr Neumann at Fernvale Sports Park to make the announcement, which is set to benefit hundreds of young players and their families.
There are currently no competitions held within the Somerset Region, with local players, like those at Somerset Storm Netball Club, forced to compete elsewhere, and Fernvale Sports Park used for training purposes only.
The Lower Somerset Region has recently experienced strong population growth, with many young families moving to the area. This growth has increased the demand for local sporting infrastructure.
The funding would address this by delivering four new netball courts, upgrading hoops and fencing, as well as installing new lighting, spectator seating and shade to support the establishment of a local netball competition.
Netball Queensland has also backed the delivery of four additional netball courts at the park, as it will provide the minimum eight courts necessary to hold competitions, providing more opportunities for local players
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
