FURTHER LOCAL STRONGER COMMUNITIES GRANTS AWARDED

03 December 2018

Four more organisations in Ipswich and the Somerset Region have successfully obtained grants through Round 4 of the Stronger Communities Programme.

Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann MP, congratulated the groups on their success in gaining the last tick of approval, following their nomination by the Independent Blair Committee.

“We’ve got some really vital upgrades and capital works happening across our region.

“The Boys Brigade of Queensland will upgrade the lighting at their Glengarry Education Centre in Mount Tarampa to environmentally friendly and efficient LED lighting.

The members of the Toogoolawah Golf Club were able to improve their clubhouse with a $5,000 grant to replace the windows and frames overlooking the greens, providing a spectacular 180 degree view.

Mr Neumann said he was pleased to see many applications focussed on increasing participation.

“Students at Blair State School now have somewhere close by to house their sports equipment, without having to haul it across the oval.

Successful organisations include:

Boys Brigade Queensland

$3,900 for environmentally efficient LED lighting

Toogoolawah Golf Club

$5,000 to upgrade the windows and frames of the clubhouse

Ipswich Historical Society

$8,000 to refurbish the Cooneana House and historical precinct

Blair State School P&C

$9,000 to construct a shed to house the mower and sporting equipment

The program, in its fourth round, provides funding of up to $150,000 to local community organisations in Ipswich, the Somerset Region and the Karana Downs region to fund small capital projects that improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant viable communities.
