Today in Question Time in the House of Representatives, the Member for Blair asked the Prime Minister to confirm an underspend of more than $100 million on funding for beef freight roads across rural and regional Australia.
True to form, Scott Morrison refused to give a straight answer when asked a straight question.
It was clear he couldn’t give an answer, so the Prime Minister leaned on his Nationals partners.
The fact is that since 2016, this Government has spent $105.3 million less than they promised on upgrading beef freight roads across rural and regional Australia.
The beef industry directly employs more than 190,000 people. These road improvements would not only see those workers get to where they’re going more safely and quickly, but properly funding the road improvements would give a huge and immediate jobs boost to regional Australia.
This is a Government that is loose with the truth and one not delivering on its promises.
It is time the Morrison Government properly funded infrastructure to create jobs, improve productivity and make key roads safer.
