An Albanese Labor Government will invest $2 million to help Kambu Health build new, fit-for-purpose health facilities to meet growing demand in the Ipswich region.

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann said an Albanese Labor Government will also invest $500,000 to relocate the Children and Family Centre at Kambu’s kindergarten and long day care facility.

“The Ipswich region is the fastest-growing local government area in Queensland, and by 2031 the local Indigenous population is expected to exceed 130,000 people,” Mr Neumann said.

“The LNP Government has abandoned people in Ipswich since its election in 2013, not bothering to invest in health infrastructure to keep up with the growing population and demand.”

Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney outlined the importance of the announcement.

“Kambu Health supports 5,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and Labor’s investment will make sure they meet the needs of their clients now and into the future, Ms Burney said.

“The Children and Family Centre will mean medical and allied specialists can provide a holistic service to children, including health checks, as they prepare to start school.

“Only an Albanese Labor Government will invest in the health infrastructure Australia and the Ipswich community needs.”
