LABOR WILL INVEST IN SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL STATE SCHOOL

28 April 2022

An Albanese Labor Government will invest $100,000 in new facilities for Prep students at the Springfield Central State School.

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann MP said the school has experienced significant growth since opening its door in 2011 when it had capacity for 50 Prep students in two classes.

“Fast-track to 2022 and there are six Prep classes with more growth predicted to come over the next decades,” Mr Neumann said.

“Labor’s investment in the school will enable them to build an age-appropriate, futuristic outdoor learning space, giving children greater access to the outdoor environment and fresh air.

“School upgrades such as this gives kids the chance to participate in activities and events that are crucial to their development and wellbeing.

“Labor believes every Australian child deserves the best start in life, including a great school education.

“This announcement is more than an investment in the school, it is an investment in the local community.”

Federal Member for Oxley Milton Dick said COVID had created additional challenges in the school.

“The past two years have been hard for all Australians. But our kids have suffered a unique loss,” Mr Dick said.

“Labor’s investment would ensure the school can provide appropriate facilities to ensure more hygienic facilities for the young students.

“This funding will provide COVID-safe toileting, hand washing and water refilling facilities.

“Investing in school upgrades like these ensure our schools are equipped to provide a world-class education.

“Only Labor will invest in local schools.”
