MEDIA RELEASE
THE SHAYNE NEUMANN MP, FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BLAIR
Families from across Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area are set to benefit from a range of Federal Government measures that come into effect from today.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the Albanese Labor Government has been working hard to deliver on promises made at the last election.
“This July, some of our most significant new policies take effect and this includes a cheaper child care package, changes to paid parental leave, and increases to Medicare rebates,” he said.
“From 1 July, we will see many of our key promises become reality – like changes to Paid Parental Leave, which will give families more support and flexibility when they need it most,” he said.
“I am particularly excited about our cheaper child care initiatives – which will see the child care subsidy increase for around 8,900 families in Blair.”
Child care will now be cheaper for 96 per cent of families, with no family being worse off.
In addition, Labor promised to establish a new national integrity body and from July, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will open its doors.
“The NACC will be critical in restoring trust, honesty and accountability to our institutions, and I am proud to be part of a government that has acted in the public interest.”
Mr Neumann said the Government was also delivering on its commitments to fix aged care.
“All aged care facilities are now required to have 24/7 registered nurses.”
“Aged care workers will also receive a 15 per cent pay rise. They take care of our loved ones so it’s time we took care of them.”
“It’s just one part of our promise to restore dignity and respect to aged care.
“We’re also introducing new rules to curb carbon emissions.
“On top of this, we’re delivering $2 billion to build social housing. That’s new money, right now, for new rental homes.
“There’s still a lot of work to do, and this is just the beginning. But we’re sticking to our word and doing what we said we would.
“We will keep working hard every day to deliver the positive change that Australians voted for,” Mr Neumann said.
