Member for Blair Shayne Neumann has been returned for a historic seventh term, with a resounding victory in Saturday’s election.
Mr Neumann said he was humbled by the election result and thanked the people of Ipswich and the Somerset for their support.
“It is an honour to represent an area in which my family has lived for seven generations,” Mr Neumann said.
“I could not have done this without the hard work and dedication of so many volunteers and supporters.
“It has been a privilege to serve our great region and I look forward to working for our community as part of a re-elected Albanese Labor Government.”
Mr Neumann said his campaign had focussed on delivering the infrastructure needed in the rapidly growing electorate of Blair – funding a long-term fix to the Amberley Interchange, major upgrades to the Brisbane Valley Highway, a new rugby league and sports centre in the Ripley Valley, more courts for Ipswich Basketball and Fernvale Sports Park, expanding the Chuwar Koala and Native Fauna Conservation Park, a new headspace mental health centre in Redbank Plains, a new House of India community and cultural centre, a major upgrade for the Lowood Pool and upgrades to the Springfield Central YMCA.
He said voters connected with the Albanese Government’s clear plans for the nation’s future – delivering cost of living relief with tax cuts for every taxpayer, more affordable health care, help for first home buyers, free TAFE, cheaper childcare and cuts to HECS debt.
“I look forward to delivering on these promises and have already hit the ground running.”
