PCYC'S NEW GRANT FOR PLAYGROUND UPGRADE

20 July 2016

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann has announced funding of up to $10,409 for Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association (PCYC) for the upgrade of the playground surface at Griffith Road Park.

Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association will receive the funding under the Blair Stronger Communities Programme Round Two.

The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 to community organisations for small capital projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities. Grants must be matched by cash and/or in-kind funding from the organisation on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“Ipswich PCYC performs wonderful work supporting young people and their families in Ipswich and the Somerset Region and I’m pleased to have been able to support their grant application for funding to upgrade facilities at Griffith Road Park," Mr Neumann said.

“Staff and volunteers at Ipswich PCYC work tirelessly to run programs which assist in developing leadership skills in our young people through participation in recreational, sporting, cultural and welfare activities.”

Mr Neumann said he’s been a long-term supporter of Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association and the work they do in our community which can be felt right across Ipswich and the Somerset Region.

“I am so proud to be able to deliver this funding to assist them.”

Shayne Neumann said that applications for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme are assessed by an independent panel of community members from the Ipswich and Somerset Region.

“I was pleased to lend my support to the independent community assessment panel’s positive recommendation to support PCYC’s application to ensure our young people have access to the best possible facilities at the PCYC in Ipswich.”
