Creating jobs, cutting power bills and reducing emissions by boosting renewable energy are at the centre of Labor’s Powering Australia plan.
Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann said this plan will bring cheaper renewable energy to homes and businesses across Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area.
“Labor’s Powering Australia plan will cut residential power bills by $275 a year by 2025,” Mr Neumann said.
“This plan will create over 600,000 new jobs, with five out of six jobs created in the regions.
“It will spur $76 billion of investment, both public and private and boost renewable energy.”
Mr Neumann said that the plan would do more than secure Australia’s economic future, the plan will reduce Australia’s emissions by 43% by 2030 – which will become Australia’s target under the Paris Agreement, keeping us on track for net zero by 2050.
“For nearly a decade, the Liberal National Government’s mismanagement of our energy policy has been a threat to our economy - leaving Australia missing out on the jobs, growth, and opportunities that our abundant renewable resources could unlock.
“The Australian business community has shown leadership. It’s time Government played its part.
“Scott Morrison still hasn’t released a credible plan to get us there.
“Our plan is ambitious and achievable, it is fully costed, and it is backed by the most extensive independent modelling ever carried out for an Opposition.”
Mr Neumann said he expected Scott Morrison would lie about Labor’s plan
“He will try to scare Australians, as he always does.
“I think local people understand the benefits of renewal energy – just look around at all the solar panel on roofs.
“It is time to put the climate wars behind us so Australia can become a renewable energy superpower.
“Australia need a leader and Scott Morrison is not up to job.”
