Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann has encouraged everyone to get an influenza (flu) vaccination to protect themselves as we head into flu season.
Visiting his neighbourhood pharmacy, Terry White Chemmart at Winston Glades, Mr Neumann rolled up his own sleeves to receive the flu jab.
“It could not be easier as you can pop into your community pharmacy, without a prescription, and your local pharmacist vaccinator will provide information, advice and the vaccination,” Mr Neumann said.
“My family and I have been going to Terry White Chemmart at Winston Glades for years and I want to thank Pharmacist Mark Christensen for making it relatively pain free.
“Local pharmacies have a terrific record of providing quality care and this was evident when frontline staff continued to serve the community during the COVID-19 pandemic service.”
The flu vaccination is currently available in Queensland community pharmacies offering this service with April onwards being the ideal time to receive your vaccination in preparation for the winter season.
Residents in Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area are encouraged to visit www.findapharmacy.com.au/qldflu locate a pharmacy near them that provides vaccination services.
Mr Neumann said community pharmacist vaccinators will play an integral role in the COVID-19 Vaccine National Rollout Strategy.
“It is expected you may be able to receive your COVID-19 vaccination from your local community pharmacy from Phase 2a, which is due to commence from May 2021 onwards.
“Just make sure you leave a 14-day period between the flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine.
“I encourage residents who are unsure to discuss this with their GP or local pharmacist.”
